Suspects in separate murders to be evaluated

Court procedures are on hold for two murder suspects pending psychiatric evaluations.

Justin Bonin, 24, is accused of stabbing his father to death at the family home in Croswell on July 10.

Donna Rager, 54, is charged with homicide in the death of her husband, whose body was found in the couple’s Marlette Township residence on July 18.

Both suspects were ordered to undergo evaluations at the state’s forensics center during their probable cause conferences on July 31.

The purpose of the forensic evaluation is to determine a defendant’s competency to assist in their legal defense.
