Sarkella runs to retain commission seat

William ‘Bill’ Sarkella William ‘Bill’ Sarkella William “Bill” Sarkella, currently serving as Sanilac County Commissioner for District 3, has announced that he will run to retain his seat for the 2019-2021 term.

Sarkella was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in December 2017 to replace resigning commissioner John Hoffmann.

“I’m a longtime Sanilac County resident who’s raised a family and loves living here,” said Sarkella.

“Sanilac County has been good to me, and I want to help it thrive. I believe in responsible government, fiscal accountability and living within our means. My goal as county commissioner is to keep Sanilac County strong through proper management of our assets and resources, in order for our residents to continue to receive current services and improvements to those services as finances allow.”

Sarkella has resided in the Port Sanilac area with his wife of 39 years, Patti, since 1985. His daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca, both graduated from Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools and married CPS graduates. Bill and Patti enjoy spending time with their daughters and sons-in-law, Brad Faulk and Shane Albrecht, as well as their two young grandchildren, Liam and Ella.

Sarkella has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Sanilac since 1985, serving as Sunday school superintendent-youth leader and president; served on the CPS Board of Education from 1996-2000; has coached CPS girls softball for 21 years; and served on the Port Sanilac Harbor Commission from 1985- 1993.

Sarkella has been co-chairman of the Sanilac County Community Foundation since 2002 and is the first and only adviser of the Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council since 1996.
