Will2Walk golf outing July 28

SANDUSKY – The 9th Annual Will2Walk Golf Scramble will be held on Sat., July 28, 2018 at Woodland Hills GC, Sandusky. Entry fees are: $75 Single Golfer, $300 Foursome; $20 Lunch Only; all golfers are welcome to one free round of golf at Woodland Hills prior to the scramble; 18-hole scramble, 36 team field max; check in at 7 a.m; shotgun start 8:30 a.m.; luncheon 1:30 p.m.; Reduced room rates available - DeMott’s Westpark Inn, 440 Sanilac Rd., Sandusky, Mi. 48471; contact Tammy DeMott, 810-648-4300; Not golfing? Thumb Meet of Champs May 29

CARO – The annual, and prestigious, Thumb Area Meet of Champions will take place Tues., May 29, 2018, at Caro High School. Field events begin at 4 p.m., 3200-meter relay 5:30; and, ceremonies and rest of the running events at 6 p.m. The following schools are invited to participate: Akron-Fairgrove, Bad Axe, Brown City, Capac, Caseville, Caro, Carsonville-Port Sanilac, Cass City, Croswell-Lexington, Deckerville, Frankenmuth, Harbor Beach, Imlay City, Kingston, Lakers, Marlette, Mayville, Millington, North Branch, Otisville-Lakeville, Owen-Gage, Peck, Reese, Sandusky, Ubly, USA, Vassar and Yale. Athletes qualify (8 in all field events, sprints, hurdles and all relays except the 3200; the top 12 qualify in the 800, 1600, 3200 and 3200R).

Golfers can aid United Way

SANILAC COUNTY – Area golfers, and non-golfers, can help the United Way of Sanilac County. The area organization is selling raffle tickets to win a chance at 18 holes of golf for four people (including carts) at all five courses in Sanilac County – Huron Shores, Lakeview Hills, Marlette Golf Course, Woodland Hills and Willow Tree. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at Croswell Barber Shop, Campbell’s Barber Shop, NAPA Auto Parts and Westbrook’s Hardware in Croswell. You can also call Kim Hartman, a United Way Member, at (810) 990- 4207 to order tickets. Drawing will be on June 1, 2018 and winner will be notified immediately. The United Way also thanks all five golf courses for their donations, and Kim Hartman for his work at putting together the fundraiser.

THOMAS MEMORIAL Run/Walk set for May 19

MARLETTE – The annual Cheryl Thomas Memorial 5K Run & 2 Mile Walk will be held on Sat., May 19, 2018. The race will start and finish at the south end of the Marlette High School track. Race begins at 4 p.m. $20 minimum donation for adults; $10 minimum donation for students. All donations are non-refundable. All proceeds go to the Cheryl Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund. Make checks payable to – Marlette Community Schools. Registration will be accepted until race time. Registrations need – Name, Address, Ph. No., Age, Gender (M/F), Event (5K or 2 Mile Walk), T-Shirt size, Signature of participant or parent/guardian if under 18. Also add date of entry. Mail registrations to: Cathy Storm, 3194 Wilson St., Marlette MI 48453. Race day registration will begin at 3 p.m. on south end of track. Awards will be given in age groups for the 5K. National Walleye Tour coming to Bay City

BAY CITY – Cabela’s National Walleye Tour will have a stop this summer in Michigan. Saginaw Bay, off of Bay City will be the tournament site on June 14-15, 2018. For further information go www.nationalwalleyetour.com.
