KINGSTON – After a handful of postponements, the Deckerville Eagles finally had an opportunity to play a pair NCTL Stars Division baseball games on Thursday.

The Eagles were ready and able. They slugged their way to a sweep of Kingston, on the road, taking the opener, 10-4, and finishing it off in the nightcap, 11-1.

Deckerville bashed out 16 hits in the first game, including three each from Brendan Kreiner and Connor Lamont (2b). In the meantime, Jeff Stone delivered two hits, including a home run, and had six RBIs. Wyatt Janowiak and Kenton Bowerman both added two hits.

Zach Ostrowski was the starting and winning pitcher, striking out 14 in five-and two-thirds innings.

In the second contest, Deckerville had just six hits but was aided by 10 walks from Cardinal pitchers.

Photos by Dale Ball The only player with two hits for the Eagles was Bowerman, both singles. Kreiner had a pair of RBIs and Zach Ostrowski had the lone extra base hit – a triple.

Isaac Keinath went the distance on the mound in the five-inning contest, allowing three hits and fanning seven.
