Ruth Frances Powers-Leim, age 94, of Lexington, went to Heaven on May 3, 2018.

She was born on November 8, 1923 in Detroit, daughter of the late Frances Nau Powers and Forest Woodruff Powers. Ruth grew up in Detroit but spent all her summers on Birch Beach on Lake Huron with her parents, sister, Mary and brother, Dick. In the 1950’s Ruth, her husband and three children moved to Texas. Ruth worked in the insurance field and medical support staff, she also practiced animal husbandry on the family farm in Troup, Texas. But her most important contribution in life, according to her children was being their support team, teacher, mentor and the inspiration of their lives.

Ruth returned to her beloved Birch Beach in 1995 to enjoy the Michigan summers and Lake Huron.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lee (Dennis) Patton; grandson, David; daughter, Katherine Leim-Cranford; grandsons, Shawn Cranford and Jeremy Cranford; son, Paul William (Jeanie) Leim; grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Leim and Kristin Leim-Correo; also survived by eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Powers and a sister, Mary Yenne- Rothenflue.

The family wishes to say a special Thank-You for the loving care Ruth received at the Tomlinson Assisted Living. At Ruth’s request there will be no services. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to donate a memorial to the Sanilac County Humane Society in her honor will be greatly appreciated.

Cremation arrangements are in care of Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron.
