Michael Jerome Collier, age 61, of Melvin, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018, with his wife and family by his side from Stage 4 head and neck cancer. He fought this battle for 6 1/2 years with more strength, courage and bravery than anyone could have imagined.

He was a longtime painter and raised beef cattle for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, vacationing up north in Brimley, Michigan and also in Arizona. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and could do anything with his hands. He took pride in all that he did. But most important to Mike was his family and being with them.

He is survived by his wife, Lora of 30 years and six children and their spouses, Melanie Collier of Comstock Park, Michelle and Clayton Nixon of Middleburgh, Florida, Michael D. Collier (Angela Bermabei) of Brethren, Mitchell and Maria Collier of Roseville, Ashley Perdue (Eric Oswald) of Sandusky and David Collier of Melvin; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; father, Donald Collier of Clinton Township; stepmother, Sharron Collier of Clinton Township; brothers and sisters, Bob and Jackie Collier of Almont, Yvette and Bob Morris of Gaylord, Kurt and Karen Pankau of Filion, Lori and Rick Jaehn of New Baltimore, Lisa and Gary Anetrini of Holly and Donald and Carey Collier of Macomb; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Michael will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Smith.

Funeral Services to honor the memory of Michael were held at The Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Rev. Paul Gaymon, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Brown City, officiated. Burial was in Valley Center Cemetery, Maple Valley Township.
