BROWN CITY — The Sanilac Area Violence Elimination Partnership known as S.A.V.E. is sponsoring a three-on-three basketball tournament March 10, to raise money for its upcoming millage renewal campaign.

In the Aug. 7 primary election, county voters will be asked to renew a two-tenths of one mill property tax levy to continue supporting S.A.V.E for the next four years.

The millage is expected to raise just over $300,000 per year.

The S.A.V.E. Partnership is a consortium of multiple Sanilac County entities that provide programs related to child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness.

Support of Eva’s Place, a shelter for battered women and children, is one example.

Tournament action starts at 9 a.m. in the Brown City High School gym. Team captains will be notified of individual game times when the schedule is complete.

The entry fee is $100 per team.

Brown City realtor and event organizer Jamie Daws said registration has been strong with many teams seeking to participate.

“The winning team will be recognized with some type of trophy or medal, and they all will have the satisfaction of knowing they competed to help a great cause,” said Daws.

A concession stand will be operating throughout the tournament.

To volunteer or ask a question contact Jamie Daws at 810-404-7002 or Melissa Laming at 810-537-2313.
