PATRICK ‘O’MARA

CHESTERFIELD

Patrick O’Mara, age 81, of Chesterfield, formerly of Sandusky and Ubly, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at home with family by his side.

He was born August 6, 1936 in Carsonville, the son of the late William and Clara Fagan O’Mara.

His marriage to Arlene Ulfig was September 5, 1959 in Parisville.

“Pat” served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1955 to 1975. He served two tours in Vietnam, and earned two Bronze Stars. Pat was a member of the Dearborn V.F.W. Post #7910, past president of Thumb Veterans Organization and past president of the Ubly Lions Club.

Pat was a parishioner of St. Mary Queen of Creation, New Baltimore and enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to golf.

Surviving in addition to his wife Arlene of 58 years are three sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick Jr. and Sue of Chesterfield, Joseph and Gina of Howell, and Christopher and Amanda of Texas; three daughters, Marie O’Mara of Farmington, Collette O’Mara of Shelby and Karen O’Mara of Livonia; nine grandchildren, Sean, Megan, Nathan, Brady, Lani, Dylan, Linda, Chase and Cameron; brother, Jack of Rochester; sisters, Mary Manglos and Alice Jane Salowitz, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers, William, Hughie and Don O’Mara; and sisters, Colleen Thompson, Agnes Kitchin and Pat Molloy.

The family honors the memory of Patrick and invite you to attend Memorial Mass and Rite of Christian Burial, Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Queen of Creation Catholic Parish, New Baltimore, with 9 a.m. visiting. Fr. Charles White will officiate. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, on a later date. Arrangements provided by Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul at St. Mary Queen of Creation Catholic Parish, New Baltimore, or Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1264 Meldrum St., Detroit, MI 48207.
