James “Jim” W. Wilson, age 90, of Marlette, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette.

He was born January 29, 1927 in Milford, son of the late Howard and Harriet Belle (Dunlap) Wilson. Jim graduated from Rochester High School with the Class of 1945, then attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a Degree in Agriculture. He married Jeane Bertelsen October 12, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Yale. Jim was a full time Dairy Farmer, also a plumber and electrician part time, sold Farm Bureau Insurance, Wolverine Seed Corn and drove a milk truck on weekends. He was active in Civil Defense in 1960. Jim and Jeane were involved in restoration of the Marlette Train Depot, Sanilac County Genealogy and operating Thumb Hobbies. He loved spending time with family and friends and traveling the back roads checking and supervising the family’s crops.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jeane (Bertelsen) Wilson; one daughter, Susan L. (Robert Jr.) Snow; two sons, James E. (Dawn) Wilson and Bruce H. Wilson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Schoch; and one sister-in-law, Emily Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Wilson; and one brother, Howard “Bud” Wilson.

A Funeral service was held at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Pastor Mike Hollenbeck officiating.

Burial took place in Marlette Cemetery.
