No cause found for fatal fire

CUSTER TWP. — Fire authorities investigating the fire that claimed the life of a 3-year-old boy were unable to determine what caused the blaze.

Sandusky Fire Chief Todd Hillman reported the “conclusion of the state fire marshal, the insurance investigator and myself is the cause of the fire is going to be ‘undetermined’… and with the ‘area origin’ being the kitchen near the stove/ refrigerator.”

Jeremy Green and Chelsea Jacobs awoke Dec. 18 around 1 a.m. to find their trailer house on fire. Jeremy ran to the living room where son Dominic, 3, was last seen asleep on the couch. When he couldn’t find the boy, the couple fled the house. Once outside, Jeremy ran to the children’s bedroom window, broke the window, climbed in and rescued 1-yearold son Phoenix from his crib.

What the father didn’t realize was Dominic was lying on the bedroom floor.

Firemen entered the trailer and recovered the boy’s body.
