Let’s talk about Sandusky!

The holiday season is upon us!

You’re invited to “An Evening in December,” a candlelight Christmas dinner, Friday, Dec. 8 from 6-8 p.m. The holiday event featuring a complimentary meal is hosted by Open Door Missionary Church, at the church across from Sandusky Walmart. The Sandusky VFW Auxiliary invites you to their annual Cookie Walk at the VFW Fish Fry on Friday, Dec. 8 at from 4 to 7 p.m. The VFW hall is at 850 S. Sandusky Road.

Sandusky Schools is getting into the holiday spirit with a band concert in the high school gym Monday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. The 6th through 12th grade bands will feature a collection of holiday music including selections from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Admission is free.

The Sandusky High School National Honor Society has adopted foster children for the holiday season through the Michigan Department of Human Services. Requested items for gifts are listed on the NHS “Giving Tree” in the high school office. Students and staff can adopt one of the children from the Giving Tree. If you’d like to pitch in, call the high school office, 810-648- 3401. The Giving Closet is also taking request from students for special items needed for the holidays as well – food, clothing, presents, hygiene products, blankets, etc.

Looking for holiday gifts? The McKenzie Hospital Auxiliary is having their Annual Gift Shop Sale Friday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Scarves, jewelry, ornaments and more. The gift shop is in McKenzie Health System Outpatient Lobby, 120 Delaware St.

The topic for this month’s Lunch and Learn is “What’s New in Healthcare.” The program is Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 12-1 p.m. in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room, 120 Delaware St. $5. Registration is required, call 810- 648-6127.

It’s dance time! The Thumb Dance Club invites you to two dances in December at Maple Valley School, 138 Maple Valley Street: Saturday, Dec. 9, the Christmas Dance featuring music by The Natural Tones, and a catered dinner at 6 p.m. Sign up necessary for dinner, which is $10. On Sunday, Dec. 31, there’s a New Year’s Eve Dance and Dinner beginning with a pot luck dinner at 7:30 p.m. – club provides scalloped potatoes and fried chicken - followed by dancing to the music of Lighthouse Three from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. $10.
