In 2016, the Green Devils started 0-4, losing some tough, close games, but finished with five straight wins.

This past Friday night, BC went to 0-3 in the young campaign, falling to a very good Cass City squad (3-0), 54-30.

“Cass City is a big, physical team that is going to make a nice run this year,” noted BC coach Aren Cooper.

“We started much better than the first two weeks and moved the ball well,” added Cooper. “We were able to keep the score close with a tough running game, but three fumbles allowed Cass City to seal the game late.”

The Green Devils were led, offensively, by Jacob Martus with 144 yards rushing and two touchdowns while Ricky Lindsay added 125 yards and a score. On defense, Austin Cover had seven tackles.

The Red Hawks, meanwhile, piled up 454 yards rushing, including 227 (3 TDs) from Brendan Hamilton. Luke Stern (2 TDs) added 154 yards.

Brown City opens up GTC East play this Friday at Ubly (2-1). The Bearcats lone loss was a, 30-16, setback to Cass City.
