Raider softball 1-3 last week

MILLINGTON – In the first full week of spring play the Marlette softball team came up with one victory in four contests.

The Lady Red Raiders were at the Millington Invitational on Saturday and played one game before rain stopped the action. They fell to Cass City, 8-3.

Kaylee Stover led the hitting for Marlette with two singles and Michelle Bartz and Halle Reed each had an RBI.

USA 18, Marlette 2: The defending State champs in Div. 4 handled Marlette on Thursday in GTC crossover play. The Lady Raiders had just three hits in the contest.

Marlette 16-6, Vassar 4-8: The Lady Raiders’ lone win of the week came in the opener on Tuesday against the Vulcans. They scored 11 times in the second and third innings to open up a nine-run lead. Sydney Parker led the offensive attack with three hits while Carleigh Nickens and Lexi Wilhelmsen drove in three and two runs, respectively. Stover was the winning pitcher.

In the second contest in crossover play, Wilhelmsen highlighted the Marlette attack with three hits and three RBI.
