Lady Pirates go 1-3 in NCTL softball openers

PECK – After beginning the 2017 softball campaign earlier in the week, the Peck Pirates lost a doubleheader to Kingston on Thursday.

The Lady Pirates, now 1-3 in the NCTL, lost the first contest, 16-1. In that contest, Ann Demaray had a single and an RBI for Peck.

In a much tighter contest in game two, Emma Engler and Abbey Shell each drove in a run. Shell was also the losing pitcher.

Peck 15-7 North Huron 0-8: It was a split for the Lady Pirates in their NCTL and season openers last Monday.

In the first game, Shell fired a no-hitter, throwing just 39 pitches in four innings of work. She also had a double and two RBI at the plate. Other top hitters were Cherokee Johnson with a double, single and two RBI and Abbey Bullis a double and RBI.

In game two, Auby VanConant led the hitting in the loss to the Warriors, connecting for two doubles and driving in two runs. Johnson had a single and two RBI and Alli Jones added a double.
