Lady Devils split softball openers

BROWN CITY – The softball season got underway for the Brown City Green Devils last Tuesday night. The Lady Devils divided a GTC crossover doubleheader with Cass City, falling, 11-0, in the opener and winning the nightcap, 7-4.

In the victory in Game 2, the bats came alive, led by Becki Krause with three singles and an RBI. Erika Troia was 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs and Zoe Mathews delivered two singles and two RBI. Alissa Bennett also drove in two runs with a base hit.

Lauren Woods was the winning pitcher for BC, striking out six.

Brown City managed just one hit in the opening game, a single from Erica Wiltsie. The Red Hawks’ Sayge Cuthrell was the winning pitcher, striking out 11 in six innings of work.
