Bats deliver for Lady Pioneers in sweep of BWAC twinbill

ALGONAC – Opening day in the Blue Water Area Conference softball season was plenty of fun for the Cros-Lex Pioneers.

The Lady Pioneers stomped past the Algonac Muskrats twice last Thursday, 12-0 and 15-0.

In the first game, C-L scored four times in the second and six times in the fourth to blow the game wide open.

Claire Knapp led the attack in that game with two singles, a double and two RBI. Rebecca Oden drove in three runs and Sydney Count had a double, single and two RBI.

Knapp pitched five scoreless innings for Cros-Lex, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits.

It was more of the same in game two, which lasted just three innings.

Emily Bower and Oden were both 3-for- 3 at the plate in the opener, each with two singles and a double. Knapp added a single and double and Ashley Robertson spanked a double and drove in two runs.

In the mercy-rule second game, Knapp struck out seven and gave up two hits to record her second victory of the day.
