Sandusky school officials are heading into the next phase of their search for a new superintendent.

Twenty individuals applied for the school district’s top administrative job by the April 12 deadline, according to Mike Carmean, the current superintendent who is retiring June 30.

The list of applicants was expected to be narrowed to the top six during a closed session of the school board during a special board meeting last night (April 18).

Board members were also expected to prepare their questions for the first round of interviews with candidates on April 24-25, which will be open to the public.

The names of the candidates will be made public after they have accepted the invitation for interviews, said Carmean.

The board’s goal is to select the new superintendent by May 15.
