Gertrude J. Lienhard, age 96, of Marlette, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at The Pines of Lapeer in Lapeer, with her family at her side.

She was born July 5, 1920 in Marlette, daughter of the late Ernest and Nora (Cargill) Brown. Gertrude graduated from Brown City High School with the Class of 1938 then attended one year of business college in Port Huron, receiving her Demographic Degree. She married Stuart Lienhard on May 3, 1941 in Sandusky, and they were married 37 years until his passing in December of 1978. Gertrude was a Billing Clerk at Yale Rubber in Sandusky, retiring in 1984 with 24 years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends, oil painting, crocheting and flower gardening.

Gertrude is survived by one son, Mark (Jill) Lienhard of West Palm Beach, Florida; three daughters, Caroline (Bruce) Fox of Brown City, Barbara Hoover of Greenbush, Michigan, and Sandra Hawk of St. Clair Shores; one sister, Olive Shephard of Brown City; three sisters-in-law, Diane Brown of Palm Bay, Florida, Arlette Brown of Clio, and Delores Van Damme of Marlette; 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ila Strickler; five brothers, F.J. and Norman Brown, Roger, Charlie and Victor VanDamme.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church with Reverend Christopher Laughlin officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the church.

Burial will take place in Moore Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hometown Hospice or Hope Lutheran Church Mission Fund.
