Robert D. Darling, age 81 of Marlette, a life long area farmer, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Marlette Hospice Residence in Marlette.

He was born September 24, 1934 in Decker, the son of the late Owen and Martha (Mark) Darling.

He graduated from Marlette High School in 1952.

He married Norretta Fenner October 14, 1961 in Port Huron.

Robert was a member of N.R.A., Sanilac Farm Bureau, Black River Antique Power Club & Thumb Two Cylinder Club.

Robert enjoyed collecting old tractors, reading and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Norretta of 54 years of marriage; one daughter Karen (Phil) Rea of Northville; two sons John (Debra) Darling of Snover, Ronald (Amy) Darling of Snover; three brothers Gerald (Sue) Darling of Florida, Fred (Pat) Darling of Marlette, Jim (Violet) Darling of Filion; one sister Norma Cryderman of Waterford; and six grandchildren Christian, Meaghan, Easton, Kaitlyn, Grace and Jeremy.

He was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Martha Darling; brothers Don and Mark Darling and sister Mary Geister.

Funeral services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette. Rev. Dave Coleman officiated. Burial was at the Marlette Cemetery.
