Katherine E. Barber, age 96 of Rochester Hills, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015. She was born January 27, 1919 in Erie, Pa., the daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth (Sawdey) Graef. Katherine married Francis (Frank) Barber on July 3, 1942 in Gulfport, Miss. He passed away on July 18, 2007.

Katherine was a member of the Congregational Church of Birmingham, where she did volunteer work at the church for many years. She also did volunteer work at the Rochester Public Library. She was on various condominium boards, as well as past president. Katherine volunteered for the Leader Dog in Rochester, Mich.

She is survived by her son Dale (Crystal) Barber of Sandusky; two grandchildren Dr. Theodore (Amy) Barber of Grand Rapids and Anne (David) Romas of Columbus, Ohio; five great grandchildren Zachary, Elise, Finley, and Aaron Barber and Ethan Romas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by one brother Paul Graef.

Funeral services were held at the Hacker Funeral Parlors, Sandusky. Officiated by Pastor Matt Osborne, Sandusky. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery, Sandusky.

Memorials may be made to Leader Dogs of Michigan.
