Gerald P. “Gerry” Holbrook, age 90, a lifelong Buel Township resident passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Stonegate Village in Sandusky.

He was born on January 5, 1925 in Buel Township, the son of the late John and Ethel (Straffon) Holbrook. Gerald proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Tillie E. Dunbeck on February 12, 1949 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1996.

Gerry retired from the Mueller Brass Co. in Port Huron after 32 years of service and he also farmed part time. His real interest and what he was most proud of was the St. Patrick’s Credit Union, of which he was a founding member and he thoroughly enjoyed keeping the books for the credit union and the church. He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, Croswell American Legion and Cros-Lex Eagles. Gerry was an avid golfer and had the honor of shooting a hole in one on the seventh hole at Lakeview Hills Golf and Country Club. Most of all, Gerry was a people person. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and was well known for his great sense of humor.

Gerry is survived by his three children Gregory (Carol) Holbrook of Croswell, Karen Hartz of Wisconsin, and Paul (Sue) Holbrook of Croswell; seven grandchildren Jamie Holbrook, Jason Holbrook, Jody Holbrook, Frank Isca, Erin Hartz, Matthew Holbrook, and Kathleen Holbrook; six great grandchildren Keely Holbrook, Tyler Holbrook, Victoria Holbrook, Landon Isca, Josie Isca, and Jackson Holbrook; and his special friend Jeanette Thompson of Croswell. Gerry is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Leland (Ruth) Holbrook and John Holbrook, Jr.; and his sister Rhea (Joe) Galbraith.

Visitation and vigil were held at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell.

Funeral Mass was held at Ave Maria Parish- St. Patricks Catholic Church in Croswell. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock and Fr. Robert P. Schikora officiated. Military Rites provided by the Croswell American Legion followed the mass and interment took place in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The Holbrook family would like to thank the nurses at Stonegate Village and McKenzie Memorial Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave to Gerry.
