Robert Rapson, the bride’s brother, served as best man, with the groom’s brother and friend, David Allan and Harvey Bilzack, serving as groomsmen. The bride’s brother, William Rapson, served as junior groomsman.

John served in the ministry for 49 ½ years with the United Methodist Church in Farwell, Croswell, Marlette and Yale, and he continues to volunteer in Marlette. Karen served as an elementary school teacher in Croswell for more than 30 years.

The couple raised two children - Donald (Wendy) Allan and Lori (Keith) Nicol. They have four grandchildren - Ashley Nicol, Holly (Brandon) Zuehlke, Brinn Walerych, and Kara Joy Nicol, and one great-grandchild, Braeden Zuehlke.

The Allans spend winters in Florida, where they entertain visiting friends, attend hymn sings and golf. During summers in Michigan, they enjoy being closer to family, attending church camp at Bayshore Camp in Sebewaing, golfing, and watching the Detroit Tigers.

A family celebration is planned this summer.
