Suspect arrested in stabbing incident

SANILAC TWP. — A 22-year-old Carsonville man was lodged in the Sanilac County Jail on suspicion of stabbing a 44-year-old Applegate man.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident that occurred Sat., Aug. 30 around 12:49 a.m.

The initial investigation showed the two men were at a bon fire in the 7000 block of Lake Haven Court when they got into an altercation that led to the stabbing. The Applegate man called 9-1-1 immediately after he was injured.

Deputies said the suspect fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival. The 44-year-old was transported to McLaren Port Huron hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

The 22-year-old was located several hours later and taken into custody without incident.

The suspect’s name was not released pending court arraignment.

Deputies were assisted by the sheriff department’s K-9 unit, Croswell, Lexington and Port Sanilac police and Sanilac EMS.
