600 wins

Al DeMott, a veteran of 34 years of coaching varsity girls basketball at Sandusky High, recently received a plaque from the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan for reaching 600 career wins. DeMott, who began his varsity coaching career at SHS in 1979, has a record of 610-174. Only one other coach - Frank Orlando, Detroit Country Day (647-108) - has more coaching victories than DeMott in varsity girls basketball in Michigan. DeMott, a former boys basketball standout at SHS, will begin his 35th hoops campaign with the Lady Redskins this winter.
