3 charged in cattle rustling
Three Tuscola County men have been arraigned in 73rd District Court in two cattle rustling cases.
Rod Wakefield, 30, Gagetown, Franklin M. Hawley, 66, Cass City, and Thomas W. Rinnert Jr, 29, Gagetown are all scheduled for preliminary exams on Nov. 26.
They each are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit larceny of livestock and 8 counts of larceny of livestock in the Cass City Road case, and one count of conspiracy to commit larceny of livestock and 3 counts of larceny of livestock in the Cumber Road case.
Eleven calves, valued at about $350 each, were stolen Oct. 29-30 from farms in the 5500 block of Cass City Road and the 4500 block of Cumber Road of Greenleaf Township.
Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki said the break in the case occurred Nov. 9, when an anonymous caller to central dispatch provided deputies with the names of the suspects and the 2 locations where the cattle were being kept.
