Dental clinic explained

Dear Editor

It has come to my attention that there may be some confusion amongst the population concerning the Regional Dental Medicaid Clinic (TADC) being created locally in the Thumb area. In an effort of clarity let me provide some facts.

TADC - Thumb Area Dental Clinics is a consortium of local dentists and officials, working together and creating a local Medicaid clinic and education center in 2013.

Local Dentists and officials are and have been very concerned about the health of individuals in the region.

Better oral health will positively affect the community in many ways, such as workforce development, absenteeism, as well as controlling pain and discomfort.

TADC will also be very involved in health education in the area and will be actively working with other nonprofit groups and schools.

TADC is a nonprofit entity.

The center will serve Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties.

The local group TADC did not prevent a clinic from forming in the area. They are taking it upon themselves to insure the clinic is completely a local effort. Much effort, time and money has been put forth by the Dentists since the effort started in September of 2012.

The last item standing before starting the construction phase is securing contracts with the three counties. Contracts are being worked on with the health officials and will be presented to counties in January.

Any businesses or individuals looking to donate toward the facility and its outreach should contact me ASAP at jrutkowski67@yahoo.com.
