Apsey named Officer of Year

First Lieutenant Christian Apsey has been named the USAF Biomedical Specialist Category II Company Grade Officer of the Year.

Apsey competed against Biomedical Service Corp lieutenants and captains working in eight medical support career fields and assigned to Air Force hospitals throughout the world.

Apsey is a 2008 graduate of the USAF Academy and serves as a Bioenvironmental Engineer with the 779th Medical Group, Andrews Air Force Base, MD.

He was promoted to the rank of captain May 28 and continues a family tradition of serving in the armed forces. His father served 26 years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force and his mother is a civilian pharmacist at Randolph AFB, TX. His grandfather Dale and uncle Brad Apsey served in the army and his grandfather Wayne served in the navy. His cousin Maj Andrew Apsey is a pilot with the Michigan Air National Guard and his cousin David Apsey was recently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Vermont Air National Guard.

Apsey is the son of Col. (retired) Douglas and Robin Apsey of San Antonio, TX, and is the grandson of Deckerville residents Dale and Doris Apsey and former Deckerville residents Wayne and Madalyn Nichol.
