Taste of Thumb raises $3,000 for baby pantry

Dear Editor:

The 8th Annual Taste of the Thumb event turned out well even with the cold temperatures and snowy conditions. A big thank you to Adam Buschbacher and Chef Aaron Puzan at The Smackwater Block in Lexington for sponsoring this event.

Over $3,000.00 was raised for the Sanilac County‘s Baby Pantry, a primary prevention program of the Sanilac County Child Abuse Prevention Council.

Participants included: Blue Water Winery & Vineyard of Carsonville, Cadillac House, iCrave, Lakeshore Market, Smackwater Bar & Grill of Lexington, Johnston’s Meat Co. of Peck, Uri’s Waterfront Dining of Port Sanilac, Benchwarmer’s of Sandusky, and Gerry’s Distributing of Port Huron.

The proceeds will be used to purchase much needed supplies such as new cribs, new mattresses, diapers, and baby wipes.

Once again thank you to Adam, Chef Aaron, all the volunteers, and the participating restaurants. It was a great day.
