William N. Mierop, age 61, of Minden City, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at his residence under hospice care.

He was born on April 21, 1949 in Sandusky, MI, the son of the late John Jacob and Olga Lucille (Heacock) Mierop. He married Suzanne VanDalen on October 2, 1976 in Palms, MI.

William was a 1967 graduate of Sandusky High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts for 51 years. He enjoyed singing and dancing, hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Suzanne Mierop of Minden City; seven children, Timothy Mierop of Ohio, Jody Mierop of Minden City, Angela (Devvon) Horness of Carson City, William Mierop of Pontiac, Daniel Wm. Mierop, Jason Skeens and Aurora Spaulding, all of Minden City; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Rowena Muma of Deckerville, Barbara Within of Lapeer, Ella Bear of Decker; father-in-law and motherin law, Bill and Kay VanDalen of Palms.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Gilbert Mierop.

There was a memorial service at the United Methodist Church in Minden City.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery at a future date.

Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund. Care has been entrusted to the Smigielski Funeral Home in Minden City.
