Bernice C. O’Connor, age 81, of Roscommon, formerly from Croswell, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

She was born May 10, 1928 in Buel Township, the daughter of the late John and Esther (Todd) Bennett. She and Dean T. OíConnor were married December 27, 1949 in Flat Rock, Michigan.

Bea and her husband founded Beaden Screen, Inc. in Croswell in 1961. She was a member of the Croswell Card Club. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Niners Golf League in Brooksville, Florida, where she and Dean made their winter home. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Dean; three sons, William (Pamela) of Croswell, Steven (Judy) of Lexington and Phillip of Roscommon; one sister, Laurine Heideman of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kelly A. O’Connor (fianceé Matt Spana), William T. O’Connor and Lacy L. (Erik) Smith; one great grandson, Brycen R. Smith; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Karole K. Losey.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Clare, William and Garland Bennett; one sister, Marguerite Aitken, and her lifetime friend, Virginia Kerschenheiter.

A funeral service was held at the First Presbyterian Church, Croswell, with The Rev. Kenneth Hetzel who officiated.

Burial was in the Croswell Cemetery.
