Successful benefit

Dear Editor:

On Saturday, January 16, the Human Development Commission held its first ever Scotch Doubles benefit to help raise funds for our upcoming Walk for Warmth campaign. With the help of friends, family, and businesses, we were able to raise just under $ 1500. The Walk for Warmth fundraising committee would like to extend a huge thank you to friends, family and businesses that helped support our cause by way of giving donations, cash, prizes for our raffle, attending the event, and for helping us get the word out about our cause.

We would like to thank Liberty Lanes for allowing us to have the benefit at your facility. Your staff was wonderful, patient, and accommodating. We would also like to thank the following businesses who generously donated prizes for our raffle: Wal Mart, McKenzie Hospital, Champions Restaurant, Kelly & Co Insurance, Farm Bureau Insurance, CC’s Cyber Café, Moore’s Ice Cream, Headlines salon, Country Crate, Sanilac Florist, Bungart Farms, Treve’s Pizza, VIP Salon, R.B.L. Hunting Blinds, Angel’s Salon, Wear-A-Bouts, Firebird Theater, DQ Grill and Chill, Sandtown Florist, Marlette Oil and Gas, Backus Oil, Kohler Oil and Propane, Phillips Oil, Bob and Jamie’s Grill, McDonald’s Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Signature Bank, Exchange State Bank, and Eastern Michigan Bank.

Due to the generosity of our communities we will be able to help a larger number of Sanilac County families stay warm this winter. If you missed this event and would still like to help, you can do so by attending our Walk for Warmth which will be held Saturday February 27, at the Sandusky HDC office.
