JOAN E. PHILLIPS

Joan E. Phillips, age 79, a resident of Marlette, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 at Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky.

She was born March 25, 1930 in Attica, the daughter of the late Harry & Mae (Hoisington) Penzien.

She graduated from Imlay City High School in 1948 and went on to U of M Business College to receive her business degree.

She married Donald Phillips October 17, 1959 in Marlette.

Joan was a home maker and also worked for Detroit Edison for six years in Marlette. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Marlette where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her husband, Donald of 51 years, two daughters, Susan (James) Storm of Carsonville, Mary (Brad) Guilds of Marlette; one brother, Harry (June) Penzien of Attica; one sister, Mary Alice (Dick) Irish also of Attica and four grandchildren, Trischa, Nichole, Jessica and Rebecca.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son.

A funeral service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Marlette, with Pastor Daniel Bowman who officiated.

Memorials may be donated to United Hospice Service or Sanilac Medical Care Facility.

Cremation followed the service at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City.
