      PECK – Bigger, faster, more experienced. Pure an simple. Harbor Beach had every one of those advantages Tuesday night in their championship game in the Pioneer Sugar Thumb Christmas Tournament. The Pirates, now unbeaten in five games this season, turned away a much younger CPS squad, 61-43, to take home the title.

2nd half leads Redskins to rout of Eagles in East opener
      DECKERVILLE – The Sandusky Redskins had a lead at halftime Tuesday night, but it wasn’t satisfactory for Coach Ryan Pritchett. The Redskins put on a strong second-half show on their way to a 64-30 victory over Deckerville in a GTC East boys hoops opener. The win lifted the ‘Skins to 4-1 overall while the Eagles slipped to 0-3.

Former B.O.Y champ dies
      Cal Lefler, the 15th Men’s Bowler of the Year Tournament champion, passed away this past week after a lengthy illness. Lefler, from the Marlette area, was the champion of the 1996 event sponsored by the Sanilac County News. The strong lefthander was on men’s teams at Liberty Lanes in Sandusky for many years.

The survey allows all hunters an opportunity to report their results, including where and when they hunted over the course of the seasons.
