Devils erupt early in 49-12 opening win over Pirates
      BROWN CITY - Scoring on all five possessions in the first half, the Brown City Green Devils opened their football season Friday night with a 49-12 non-league thumping of the neighboring Peck Pirates.

      CROSWELL - The Cros-Lex boys team missed out on repeating as the Mike Jackson Memorial Invitational champions last year. However, they were back strong on their home course last Thursday. The Pioneers grabbed the Jackson title rather handily with a low score of 53. Port Huron was next with 75 and Port Huron Northern followed with 76.

      DEARBORN - Taking a victory on the road against a good Division 3 team could have been a great way to start the prep football season for the Cros-Lex Pioneers. However, a near celebration turned into heartbreak Friday night when Dearborn Divine Child put together a late drive and used Andrew Fullan’s 32 yard field with 10 seconds left to jolt the Pioneers, 19-18.

Eagles romp in opener, 54-
      DECKERVILLE - It had to feel like more than three-and-half hour bus ride home for the Oscoda Owls Friday night. The Deckerville Eagles were less than cordial hosts on the football field, taking the season-opener, 54-0, from the visiting Owls. The Eagles, who led 36-0 by halftime, rolled up 443 total yards, including 428 on the ground in the nonleague contest.

Turnovers costly to Redskins in 34-21 loss to Hawks
      CASS CITY - Two fumbles and an interception in the last 18 minutes proved to be too much to overcome for the Sandusky Redskins Friday night. The Cass City Red Hawks eventually took advantage and came from behind to stop the ‘Skins, 34-21 in a non-league opener to the high school football season.
